“Prior to joining LSA’s Board of Directors, I was looking for an opportunity to volunteer with an organization that gave people the extra help they needed to best participate in their community. The company I work at had a program that helped match employees with boards of various organizations. As I looked into the various organizations I found LSA’s mission very inspiring. I wanted to be part of this organization that not only helped adults with developmental disabilities, but helped their families too. After meeting Dana and a few members of the board, I was motivated by their passion towards LSA’s mission and it confirmed for me that this was the organization I wanted to become part of.
I joined LSA’s board in January of 2021. Due to restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic I wasn’t able to visit any of the homes nor meet any residents and staff. Although I wasn’t initially able to see how LSA was executing their mission, as restrictions were lifted, I was able to meet the board in person as well as LSA’s passionate staff and extraordinary residents. Meeting residents for the first time and being able to see the difference LSA was making in their lives was very moving for me.
LSA helps its residents participate in their communities in a manner that is rewarding to both themselves and their communities. In addition to helping the residents live their best possible lives, residents’ families can take comfort in knowing that their loved ones are getting the support they need. Families can feel proud of their loved ones for what they are able to accomplish with LSA’s support.
LSA provides loving and supportive community homes for adults with developmental disabilities. In doing so, LSA makes a wonderful impact in the community and the organization brings comfort and joy to countless families impacted by our services. Being part of LSA’s board has been such a rewarding experience for me. I sincerely appreciate your support of LSA and your participation in our 2022 Run Home. Join me on September 18 as we make a difference in the lives of adults with developmental disabilities.”
