Getting Started with Inclusive Housing Services at LSA

Families often ask how an individual becomes eligible to live in an LSA home. Below is an overview of the process and what to expect, from eligibility to placement.

Step 1: Confirm Regional Center Eligibility

Life Services Alternatives serves adults aged 18 and older who are current clients of the San Andreas Regional Center (SARC). If an individual is not yet a SARC client, the first step is completing the Regional Center intake process to determine eligibility. Families can contact SARC directly through their intake form to begin this process.

If an individual currently receives services from a different Regional Center, they may be eligible to transfer to SARC depending on residency, eligibility, and assessed needs. This option can be discussed with the individual’s Service Coordinator.

Step 2: Service Coordinator Referral

Once an individual is confirmed as a Regional Center client, their Service Coordinator will assess their level of need and determine whether LSA may be an appropriate fit. If so, the Service Coordinator submits an official referral packet to LSA on the individual’s behalf.

Step 3: LSA Review and Matching Process

After receiving a referral, LSA conducts a thorough review to ensure the best possible match. This includes:

If a home appears to be a good fit, LSA coordinates next steps such as:

Step 4: Family Engagement

To begin or support the process from the family side, we strongly encourage families to complete the Family Interest Form on the LSA website. This form connects you directly with LSA’s Vice President of Operations, Residential Homes and Programs, who can answer questions, learn more about your family members, and guide you through next steps.

At Life Services Alternatives, we believe that successful placements are built on collaboration, communication, and compatibility. Our goal is to ensure that every resident is welcomed into a home that is supportive, stable, and aligned with their needs—enhancing quality of life for both residents and their families.
